starting to feel better today about some of those things that were getting me down yesterday. found a whole bunch of things for halloween waiting for me in my teaching closet, thankfully. today's japanese study is still not great, but better than it was going yesterday. if i just work a little harder, a month is plenty of time to get ready. and while i'm worrying now about moneys, after december, i%2 l have a lot fewer things hovering over my head to pay for i think.

one day at a time.

today's school lunch, for example, seems like a much larger obstacle, hehe.

They celebrate Halloween in Japan? Or are you just teaching them about it as being part of our culture?

it's pseudo-celebrated. they know about it, and all the shops and things decorate for it, and you can buy halloween merchandise, but as for trick-or-treating? that's not something they seem to do. the gaijin are really the ones who party on halloween here. i'm teaching it as half a cultural lesson, half on vocab in english for all the stuff they see around this time of the year.

Ah OK, that's sort of what I figured, considering Halloween is based on a western/pagan holiday. We've co-opted plenty of their culture in that same sort of way I'm sure.

Glad you're feeling better! If you're still up for some sort of adventure on Saturday, we can spend the entire time practising Japanese and see how many more people we can confuse on the street!
