seeking advice for products i'm seeking...
so yeah, looking for two things:

1. a decent pair of earbud headphones for my mp3 player. should probably just wait til i'm in japan already, that's where i bought my last decent set of headphones. still, any recommendations are welcome.

2. a good laptop. i've been looking over the apple ibook and powerbook, strongly considering one of them. i need it basically for internet use, media and storage, and art (both to store my paper work, and to start working on digital mediums...looking at getting into vector art while i'm alone in japan). any input would be appreciated, just so i have things to take into consideration.

thanks in advance for your advice!

I would've went with the powerbook instead of my xpsgen2, but the processor couldn't handle what I wanted for gaming. I don't think you care about that, though, so that'd be my recommendation.

I bought some of the Shure earphones after I got an ipod for x-mas. I can't stand the ear-bud style dealies because they really hurt my ears. These have a lot of options for fitting (within the ear) so it's not too hard to get something that's comfortable. My only complaint perhaps is that they have a very "bright" sound. I'd definitely go into a store and try them before buying, sound is such a personal thing.

I love my iBook, but I wish i'd waited a little longer, as the new MacBook (w/ Intel chips instead of IBM/Motorola) is several times as fast.

I hear these are nice for earbud headphones:

And yes, for ease of use and low maintenance when gaming is not an issue... the new intel based MacBooks are the best bet. Unless you have to have Windows for one reason or another.

I recently got these earphones and they're pretty much perfect. The sound is really nice, they're comfortable and they're very loud! The only complaint I have is that somehow the wires really conduct sound, so basically if the volume is off or quite low, you can hear a booming/rumbling if the wires move over your clothes. It's not noticeable at normal listening volume, though. They're pretty good at cutting out sound from the pesky outside world, too.

when was the last time you used an apple? I mean, they are super cool, and can do a lot of things, but they are way too expensive!! not to mention, like someone else said, difficult to solve problems with them too, since everything is just mac mac mac.

I like my new laptop, it's a dell inspiron 6000, and cost 1400. also ibm's are incredibly reliable, still mainly windows, and still less expensive than schmapples.

but really, I don't know crap about computers. SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AGAIN PLEASE. ahem. thanks.
