HOW DO YOU GIVE THE BEST DIRECTOR AWARD TO ANG LEE AND NOT GIVE THE FILM HE DIRECTED THE AWARD FOR BEST PICTURE? WOULDN'T THE BEST DIRECTION MAKE IT THE BEST FILM?!?!

FUCK YOU, CRASH, YOU SHITTY SHIT MOVIE.

AND FUCK YOU, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, FOR TAKING ALL THE TECHNICAL AWARDS AWAY FROM BETTER MOVIES BECAUSE THE ACADEMY VOTERS BOUGHT INTO YOUR ORIENTALIST BULLSHIT.

i'll be pissed off about this for a couple of days, at least. just warning you all.

i know i'm the only one who cares. but really, c'mon.

i am NEVER watching the oscars again.

ok, so I didn't hate crash, in the same way that I didn't hate Die Hard. but I definitely agree that it didn't deserve an oscar in any category.

what I am happy about is that a whole bunch of unusual films were nominated in lots of categories. they're... you know... moving in the "right" direction. I don't think there should be a necessary correlation between best direction and best film, otherwise why have two categories??
--- what comes to mind is in TV....The West Wing where, no matter what the content, I am always in COMPLETE AWE of the direction. but not every season is so worthy of best drama... you know?----

I am not suprised at all that BM didn't win because... well because it is a simple movie. it's a gorgeous wonderful important movie yes. but it's kind of quiet and simple (with huge roaring emotions that are artfully directed). hollywood is not a huge fan of simple, I don't think.

either way, baby, I love to see you rant. it makes me smile. =)

I would like to comment about MOAG, but I fear you will bite off my head.

I talk too much

i'm sure you liked moag for some reason, but any talk of buying into it's fake japaneseness will not be tolerated, you're correct.
