HOW DO YOU GIVE THE BEST DIRECTOR AWARD TO ANG LEE AND NOT GIVE THE FILM HE DIRECTED THE AWARD FOR BEST PICTURE? WOULDN'T THE BEST DIRECTION MAKE IT THE BEST FILM?!?!

FUCK YOU, CRASH, YOU SHITTY SHIT MOVIE.

AND FUCK YOU, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, FOR TAKING ALL THE TECHNICAL AWARDS AWAY FROM BETTER MOVIES BECAUSE THE ACADEMY VOTERS BOUGHT INTO YOUR ORIENTALIST BULLSHIT.

i'll be pissed off about this for a couple of days, at least. just warning you all.

i know i'm the only one who cares. but really, c'mon.

i am NEVER watching the oscars again.

i read it in high school and thought it was alright, and i went to the movie because my japanese exchange student visiting wanted to. we both disliked the film thouroughly. it was orientalist borderline rasict. and while i'm not a japanese person, and shouldn't claim to be, i did decide to get a degree in studying that culture and language. and i think i know blatant orientalism when i see it. and it is still very much alive, obviously. yuck.

i was happy with ang lee too. one of the things that was worth seeing. brokeback is a stunning film, and at least they acknowledged that in some sense.
