The most depressing movie ever made...ever...
Pearl Harbor is not depressing. Titanic was not depressing. Life is Beautiful is not depressing. No movie, in comparisson to Grave of the Fireflies, is depressing. Without a single doubt in my mind, it is the saddest, most depressing, and yet one of the best films I have ever seen.

After telling most of the people I've seen recently about this movie, I decided to make a post for those I don't see as often, because this movie can't be recommended highly enough. Even those of you who don't like foreign film or animation should see it.

For those of you who don't know, it is a film about two children, living orphaned in post-WWII Japan. Realistic, moving, and terribly sad, it's a film you won't soon forget having seen it. If you are interested in animation, history, or just damned-good movies, this is a movie you should see. You can even rent it at blockbuster, and I recommend doing so on DVD, in case you feel like you can't read the subtitles. If it will make you watch this film, I wouldn't even bitch about seeing it in English.
This movie is wonderful, even if it isn't one with a happy ending. A must see, truly.

Sounds interesting... I'll have to check it out. Have you seen The City of Lost Children?

Ohh, that movie was so sad!
I saw it a few years ago on the IFC. It was so good, I think I even saw it before you and Kath showed me Eva for the first time. I too, recommend that movie to everyone. It's awesome. I cried very much at the end though.
