After telling most of the people I've seen recently about this movie, I decided to make a post for those I don't see as often, because this movie can't be recommended highly enough. Even those of you who don't like foreign film or animation should see it.
For those of you who don't know, it is a film about two children, living orphaned in post-WWII Japan. Realistic, moving, and terribly sad, it's a film you won't soon forget having seen it. If you are interested in animation, history, or just damned-good movies, this is a movie you should see. You can even rent it at blockbuster, and I recommend doing so on DVD, in case you feel like you can't read the subtitles. If it will make you watch this film, I wouldn't even bitch about seeing it in English.
This movie is wonderful, even if it isn't one with a happy ending. A must see, truly.
