The Return of the Thin White Duke
so, i'm working on doing a presentation for japanese class about Amano Yoshitaka, artist for many wonderful things including the final fantasy series. some may even recall he and neil gaiman created a short sandman graphic novel together called "The Dream Hunters", which i own and love. well, looks like those two are together again, according to Amano's website, and working on a fantasy project called "The Return of the Thin White Duke". the art is, of course, based on David Bowie.

how can i resist a combination like THAT? i oh so want it and it doesn't seem to be currently available. naturally. thank god for Amano's website gallery, at least.

so yeah, end of yearning post.

I googled it and I found a .pdf and I got all excited and then it was just a news article from a Bowie concert in 1983 at MIT.

Gaiman wrote a comic, "The Last Temptation," for Alice Cooper several years ago. It wasn't Neil's best work.

I met Amano-san when Neil and he were doing a signing at Dreamhaven. He grinned at my clumsy "arigato gozaiimasu", and drew a picture in the cover of my copy of The Dream Hunters.

Neil was Neil. When I worked at Dreamhaven, I saw him all the time. He's almost completely lost his accent, he's been living up here so long.

really, the combination of amano's art and bowie's image is the exciting part for me. i can take or leave the gaiman, but if he's the one who wanted to write a fantasy story and use bowie's likeness, then i'm most glad of it.

amano is also my husband. shhh.
You got me. I just spent half the day yesterday looking up Amano's work because they're re-releasing FFI and II, and he did all of the art for the first seven of those games. My background is currently his "Leviathan."

And "Dream Hunters" is amazing. His picture of baku is fantastic.

You probably have no idea who I am. So maybe I got you, too.
