In my opinion, Ninja Scroll is the pinacle of ninja movies. Great action, good animation (if graphic), interesting character and story line, a hint of romance, a pinch of humor, and an enjoyable main music theme. I'd rather tell you to watch it than summerize the plot. If you ever see any movie advertise it's the best such-and-such since Ninja Scroll, don't believe them. And don't believe ADV's myth that Ninja Resurrection is the sequel to Ninja Scroll...it has nothing at all to do with it, it just happens to have a character in it also named Jubei. If you want a good ninja flick, Ninja Scroll has it all. Highly recommended by yours truly.
But I realized something for the first time. Now, I've seen the movie a few times, and I've never really thought about it before, but...does anyone know why it's called Ninja Scroll? I mean, to the best of my knowledge, there was no kind of scroll in the movie, and if there was, it certainly wasn't important enough to name the film after it. Granted, it's not a bad name, but still. If anyone can explain to me why the title is such, I'd be both impressed and appreciative.
