When I saw the nominations this year...  
I completely gave up the idea of watching the awards. It was that bad, in my opinion.

I'm just glad Charlize Theron got the recognition she deserved for that movie.

I don't feel anything else nominated/won is worth mention.

who watches award ceremonies anyway? it's just industry masturbation. they should just publish a damn list and stop pretending like it's "an event."

They never will, because rich people like to spend lots of money on clothes to be photographed in.

you know, no one would bother photographing them if there weren't millions of people who actually care, and even obsess over, about what rich people wear to these things...

Another reason they won't stop making it an event. It's the American corranation ceremony, since no one wears fancy dresses to the inaguration of the president.

it also answers the original question of who watches these things: the same people who read/look at people and watch e! on a regualar basis...and also the "entertainment press" who make money off of the thing.

There are at least ten movies he should have won for which I don't even think got him a nomination. The Academy is a bunch of hacks.
