The Red Sox hang with Ganesh, you know.

I never really cared that much about American baseball until I moved to Japan and wanted something the kids would have interest in when I introduced myself. I explained in my introductions that CT is halfway between Boston and New York, and that in my family, my dad and I like the Red Sox, and my sister and my mom like the Yankees. When I asked, all the kids knew the Yankees because of Matsui being on the team, but not a soul knew the Red Sox. BLASPHEMY, I cried. But without a Japanese player, the kids had no idea who they were and no interest in finding out. Suddenly, I became a much more rabid fan. My team was not to be ignored! And I told them all, "well, when they get a Japanese player, you'll know them! I bet they will be the next team to get one!"

And somehow, from across the world, the Red Sox heard my plea, and aquired themselves a Japanese player!! Matsuzaka Daisuke, one of Japan's star pitchers, went through the posting system to join an American Major League team. Last week in class, me and one of the English teachers made our example conversation around Matsuzaka and which teams were bidding on him. As usual, all the kids thought the Yankees would get him. I told them, NO, the Red Sox would get him for sure.

Today's class was about "does" and "doesn't", and I took unusual pleasure from asking "Does Matsuzaka play for the Yankees?" "No, he doesn't". "Does he play for the Red Sox?" "Yes, he does." (*^_^*) Next thing you know, I'll be starting a proper Red Sox/Yankees rivalry in Japan. Oh yeah.

Thank you, Boston Red Sox, you have made a lifelong fan out of me. And definately increased your fame and fanbase in a foreign country that loves baseball. Good work!!

postly mostly for brandon

hey brandon! sorry i've fallen a little behind on listening to your new tracks, stuff's been kinda crazy, but i promise i'll catch up soon. the month's almost over already! hope you're gotten everything you wanted out of it.

i made a really good mix meant for a slow, wistfully longing night. i thought you might appreciate it, as you are the only other mixmaster who can fully appreciate it in some sense (aka, you're the only one who has most of the music i do, and knows how to use it). so here it is for your listening pleasure:

1. Karl Blau - Pain Runnin'
2. Thanksgiving - Stay in the Spring Field
3. Andrew Bird - Don't Be Scared (if you don't have "Weather Systems" yet, go get it! I'll upload it for you if you can't find it)
4. The Mountain Goats - Get Lonely
5. Iron and Wine - Each Coming Night
6. Califone - The Orchids
7. Eternal Sunshine Soundtrack - Elephant Parade (small filler track, i've got a couple on here, they're so pretty)

9. Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Death in the Sea
10. Elbow - Switching Off
11. Sigur Ros - Glosoli
12. Eternal Sunshine Soundtrack - Spotless Mind
13. Colin Hay - I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You (on the Garden State Soundtrack, ask Eric if you can't find it)

15. Beck - Guess I'm Doin' Fine
16. Ugly Casanova - Barnacles

18. Adrian Orange - While You Live (off his new record, not under the Thanksgiving name. Find this track over at Marriage records)

That last track also brings me to asking you a favor. it's a hot song. the album is called "Bitches is Lord". I am wondering if I can ask you to buy it and i'll pay you back at X-mas time. You can burn a copy of course. I wants it really bad. And it's only $12. think about it!

anyway, once again, love to you and everyone else back home. give them hugs for me. and i'll see you in just about a month i hope!!!
