i'm good!

I love the 80's...

Why is it that silly movies from the 80's were so much more fun than current silly/stupid movies?

Brandon and I watched "Time After Time" last night, which is about H.G. Wells following Jack the Ripper into the year 1979 with the time machine he'd invented, which Jack had stolen and used. Sure, the premise, let alone the science, was ridiculous. Still the movie was charming, funny, and we both really liked it for what it was.

I mean, I feel like that about a LOT of 80's movies. The Tall Guy, the Breakfast Club, even up to the early 90's with Pretty Woman (maybe one of the last ones of this genre).
And not because I watched them when I was younger...many of them I haven't seen until I was in my late teens and now early twenties. Why are they so cute? What was it that made them fun and not fake? Endearing and not tedious?

Maybe they're just honest about what they are, which is a silly movie, and embrace it with more sincerity than modern movies do. I dunno. I just think we should have it back.
