How does so much mucous build up in one nose? After not sleeping most of the night blowing crap out of it, it seems like there's more of it now, not less.
I feel like shit. This sucks. Somebody shoot me.
There are some good things about going to school close to home and loved ones.
Brandon, sweet thing that he is, took care of me last night when this cold thingy started to really hit. He had me stay even though he ended up sleeping on the sofa, since I didn't really sleep but simply blew my nose all night. He even offered to have me again tonight. Now that's love, ladies and gentlemen.
When I told my mom I was sick on the phone, she and my father brought over a large jug of cranberry juice, chicken noodle soup, NyQuil and their doggie bags from dinner. Eggplant parmesan over penne and lemon-garlic chicken. Mmmm. As my parents will tell you, doggie bag is my favorite food. After my nap and shower (thanks for the suggestion Russen!), food is actually starting to look good again. All I'd had before that today was two pieces of toast and a banana. I think. And some tea. Green tea. That was good.
I just hope this brings me back up to coherent again...
"Head Cold" is one of those altered states that you think isn't going to be so bad when you first start getting it, but as the state progresses, you see that in fact, you were wrong. One of many states in the highly-unacclaimed "Sickness" series, it seems "Head Cold" would at least be a little more light-hearted than some. It's not as serious as "Cancer," or even "Pneumonia", so you'd think it'd be easy to get through. Heavy performances by nose, throat, and ears, however, weigh down the rest of the body of the cast, simply sucking the energy right out of them. Nose's performance is so over-blown, it hurts just to think about it. And just when you're hoping it's about to end, it simply picks up again, and you know you're in for a longer haul than you were hoping.
As a long-time critic of altered states, I've never been fond of any of the pieces in the "Sickness" series. Sure, there's a lot of them, but none of them are really any good. The best one can hope for is that they are short. I still advise you to stay away from "Head Cold" because it's really not worth the time and suffering it puts you through. Go and try something in the "Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n' Roll" series if you want to have a good time. I don't think you'll be disappointed by those. "Head Cold" will just leave you feeling down and out.
