The Last Temptation of Mary Ellen...
Is it wrong that seeing David Bowie playing Pontius Pilate really really really turns me on?

P.S. - The Last Temptation of Christ was a fantastic movie I should have seen years ago. I can't wait to watch the director's commentary.

Personally, I would say yes. But I would pay a lot for a good movie, unlike some people, ::cough::Brandon::cough:: who is probably smarter to wait til he can get it at least under $20. Still, for a Criterion collection DVD, $30 ain't bad.

wishlist it on half, or preorder it on half with the most you'll pay and see what happens.

i hate paying 30 for ANYTHING.

Are you sure that it's not just seeing David Bowie? :)

Confession: I've always had a thing for Pilate. I always thought he was an intreguing person, and seeing him played by Bowie was pretty fantastic. Still, I wished the film portrayed him releasing Barabas, and "washing his hands" of the whole matter as it says he did in the Bible...a great character.

Mmm. Judas Iscariot for me is just as interesting.... There is a point of view which says that what he really wanted to do is to force the Rabbi's hand, make him call down the angels to protect himself and thus overthrow Rome, which he, as a Hebrew patriot, wanted most ferverently. Of course, when he realized what he had done, that is, get his master killed, he went and hung himself.

And of course Rome overthrew Israel completely in 70CE.

Re:
I agree that Judas is an amazing character, and there are many fascinating points of view on what could have happened...I personally don't believe Judas was the one who humg himself, for example. If I was going to pick a person to have a conversation with, excluding the choice of Jesus, Judas is probably the one I'd choose (When I was much younger, that was one of the things we did in Sunday school, and people made fun of me).

I don't, however, have the same kind of fantasies about Judas that I have about Pilate. I don't know what it is about him per se, but I always associate Pilate with some sort of sexual tension. When I said I have a "thing" for Pilate, I meant it that way.

Looks like bibble's got his hands full. Or...washed, as the case may be.

He started it!!
Who do you think initiated the discussion and the eventual Jesus and Mary kissing thing?

You can blame him for the Biblical Fantasy Week™.

Though, he does make a pretty sexy Jesus, I must admit...maybe I should try him out with toga and a bowl of water after all, hehehe...
