On that note...
It's things like this that make me wonder about the sanity of anyone involved in the awards process.

::shivers:: Randy Newman...::more shivers::

You're biased, that's all. I lost no faith in the academy for that choice... The guy deserved it. It's no worse than giving Ron Howard a best direction award (I voted for Moulin Rouge in that category).

Yeah, but c'mon!
I was upset Ron Howard got the Best Director, but I partly expected, the way you expected Titanic to get best film. But Paul McCartney, while lesser the artist that he used to be, wrote, heaven forbid, a good song, unlike Randy Sing-A-Fuck-long Newman did. Hell, I liked the song in Bug's Life...but the one in Monsters Inc was just stupid.

Bob Dylan got his Oscar. I think the last working Beatle deserves one, in comparison of the two songs in particular, more that our Pixar pal.

Re: Phew!
Don't be sorry, I still agree with you, bold or not ^_^

I was rooting for all things LotR by default; other than that, I didn't have a particular emotional attachment to any of the songs.

Credit where credit's due, his acceptance speech was quite entertaining :). First sign of life I saw in the entire show. (God, that was a dull show.)
