really living in japan
i'm starting to get the hang of things around here. i drove around a lot today, managed to find my board of education without any difficulty. i even filled up my gas tank and figured out how to back into my parking spot. i went to the grocery store and bought food all my myself. cleaned my apartment up a bit and started to hang up the artwork i brought from the states. i'll post pictures in the near future if anyone is interested. i've figured out my washing machine and microwave, and most of how the tv works. the phone/fax still evades me, but when i called my predecessor to ask how it worked, he said he'd had to get help too, because it's a stupid machine. i've cooked my own food, and tomorrow i'm going to make breakfast for me and my neighbor before i go to work to get my first paycheck. i also got my first bill in the mail, which i could do without, but oh well. i've started to call everything here "mine" instead of "ami's" (my pred.), and while i feel kind of bad, i've begun to take down some of the stuff he left on the walls in favor of my own things.

i really live here. wow.

aw! that's really awesome. you DO live there!

What is the grocery store like? Was it ever hard to tell what's what?

and answer my emails, biotch!

yeah, guess i do.

the grocery store is still pretty challenging. anything that shows what it is obviously, like bread or veggies, no problem. telling different packages of something apart, like what the difference between these two kinds of curry is, that's impossible at this point, hehe. i'm also still pretty unused to the price of fruit and veggies...melons are like 20 dollars!

and sorry about the emails, i haven't seen them. i'll check the accounts i don't look at daily. sorry!
